The Gold's

Riley and I met at a Halloween party on October 30th, 2008. I was on a date with another guy..and as he likes to say, he was, too! In reality he had just been drug to the party by a couple of his guy friends. He was at the party dressed up as a cowboy and so was his friend Brian, so it was an ongoing joke that they went as "Brokeback Mountain".

I thought he was really cute when I first saw him but I couldn't really do anything about it because I didn't want to be rude to the person I was on a date with. As it turned out he and his friends knew the kid I was on a date with, so they came over and we all started talking.

It was a Singles Ward party and I joked around with Riley that he should come to my ward that Sunday. We parted ways and I really thought I'd never see him again.

That Sunday I went to church and sat in a middle row all by myself, pretty close to the front of the room. None of my friends were on time to church, so I ended up sitting ALL ALONE on the entire row!! I had completely forgotten about my invitation to Riley at that point, because I was partly joking.

Riley got up that morning with no intentions of coming to my ward, until his friend Clayton reminded him about it. I still don't know what it was that made him change his mind, but he ended up coming. He and Clayton sat towards the back of the room...until they saw me sitting completely by myself. To them it looked like I had been saving them a seat, and they didn't want to be rude. So like 20 minutes into the Sacrament meeting they moved up and sat by me. I felt like the biggest idiot, ever!!

That Sunday it was one of monthly "Linger Longer's" at the Singles Ward, so we stayed after the block and had lunch. Riley got my number before the end of the night and we parted ways.

I went over to a friends house that night and received the first text from him. We got talking about our likes and dislikes, and he ended up asking me what my favorite type of music is. When I told him I really liked techno he didn't believe me. Apparently to test my legitimacy, he asked who my favorite artist was. When I told him I really like DJ Tiesto, he asked me, over text, if I would marry him. I still remember telling him, "Not today..but maybe tomorrow".

Which is exactly the same thing I told him when he asked me to marry him about 10 months later!! But that time I was kidding! He asked me to marry him at one of our favorite places ever, the Farmington Pond. We got married a year to the day that we met (October 30, 2009) in the Logan Utah Temple, and the rest is history!!

We now live in North Salt Lake, Utah with our dog Benny. Each day is an adventure!!
